Women of Search
International community empowering and celebrating women in search. Founded May 2021 by Audrey Lorberfeld. Runs a mentorship program, a blog/resources, and presents technical talks at conferences (notably Haystack US/Haystack EU).

Vector Podcast
Interview podcast founded and hosted by Dima Kan (Aiven) in October 2021, at the moment the vector database category was forming. Thirty-eight episodes of engineers and founders rather than analysts — Weaviate, Milvus, Pinecone and Qdrant people interviewed while their products were being built, HNSW co-author Yury Malkov, plus on-site batches from Berlin Buzzwords featuring Charlie Hull, Trey Grainger and Doug Turnbull.

Why Communities Matter
Search is a small, specialized field. Communities are where practitioners:
- Learn — talks, mentorship, and shared write-ups compress years of tacit knowledge.
- Get hired — much of Hiring for Search flows through community pipelines, not job boards.
- Break in — for newcomers, communities are the most welcoming on-ramp (see How to Start a Career in Search).
- Stay current — Slack groups and meetups surface emerging practice ahead of formal publication.
